A total of 15,283 Vettes had the two-tone anniversary paint job. For a lot more money, buyers could purchase the Limited Editon Indy Pace Car with distinctive black over silver paint and red striping. Equipment in this package (RPO Z78) included special silver interior with new lightweight seats, special front/rear spoilers, 255-60-15 tires on alloy wheels and glass roof panels. Special decals also came with this Corvette. This car was in such a demand in 1978 that despite its 13k sticker price, people were paying up to $75,000. |
